For beautiful views for miles, you should climb up to 1377 m above sea level where you will find the Dom na Smrekovcu hut. The hut overlooks the whole Šalek Valley and a part of Pohorje; with nice weather you can even see Sleme above Zagreb. The view is even better from the peak of Smrekovec. There are many trekking options from there, as well as biking around the neighbouring hills. The hut received the Family-Friendly Hut certificate, awarded by the Alpine Association of Slovenia.
The hut is open continuously in the summer and on Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday in winter. For bigger groups it can also be opened on other days by prior arrangement. 60 seats are available in two catering rooms and 36 beds in eight rooms. The common sleeping area has space for 20 people.
Winter opening hours (1 Oct–31 May) – Saturday and Sunday from 7.00 to 17.00
Summer opening hours (1 Jun–30 Sep) – every day from 7.00 to 22.00
